Summer Soliloquy

8/07/02 - Well, it's August now. School starts again in less than a month. If everything goes as planned this will be my last semester at Texas A&M. I may stick around for another couple years to get my Masters, but I might not. I still haven't decided. It's hard to believe it's been 4 years since I started college. Sad also that I've only written 10 things in that 4 years to put on my webpage. I'm really not the type to talk about everything going on, as is probably obvious.

I still get an e-mail every once in a while about Red Dwarf. But I haven't sent anyone any episodes in a while. They're actually out on DVD, or will be soon (the 1st season at least), so that should help. There will probably be high quality rips floating around on the internet soon too. But that's about it. It's been a long time since anyone wrote just to say hi. Guess that's just the way it goes.

My toe is a lot better now. It doesn't hurt at all, and it's starting to be normal colored again. Luckily no one ever saw my toe before, so no one misses seeing it now. I haven't whipped it out at any parties or anything, it's just a nasty looking big toe. It goes well with the rest of my toes, which are bony and kinda odd shaped, probably from not going barefoot a whole lot when i was younger.

My english is really getting bad. I used to always write in complete sentences and with proper capitalization and such, but 4 years where i chat online more than I write for school has really affected my typing. Now I write more as random ramblings than in complete thoughts. I can still focus and do pretty good writing for school and business, but I'm just saying if I'm not careful it turns into chat-quality very quickly. I suppose if someone chatted with me (ICQ: 2702960, AIM: lukeluca) they'd know that. Speaking of chatting, after I set up a firewall between my and my internet connection, I had a hard time using my webcam in Netmeeting. So I went looking for video chat software, and came upon a great one that works really well for me. It's called Eyeball Chat and is available at (not suprisingly) eyeballchat.com. My user name on there is lukeluca, so give me a holler sometime and maybe you can see me, LIVE! Actually, Eyeball Chat is pretty good, and if you don't use your MSN chat, Yahoo chat, or AIM for anything but chatting, Eyeball chat will let you set it up to login with it instead. By this I mean you can just run Eyeball chat instead of 3 or 4 different programs, and still have contact with all your AIM/MSN/Yahoo buddies, kinda like Trillian, but without ICQ.

This summer has been a lot of work. The company I helped start is doing pretty good, and may be big enough by December to take me on full time with a good paycheck. But I may be in Grad School, so it might not matter if it's still kinda small. I helped a guy from church do some surveying last week, so that gives me a little spending money. I'll start a job at one of the labs on campus in the fall, so that will help pay the bills and keep me fed once school starts again. I helped out at the church here quite a bit the past couple of months, mostly working on a new building that is being constructed. It's pretty much done, so now my nights are a lot more free. Not that I would do a whole lot, but I at least have time to update my web page now. (^8

I've been thinking about redesigning the page, but I'll probably just leave it like it is until I get a real website somewhere more permanent, where I can put up thousands of high quality pictures/sounds/videos for everyone to see. I don't know who would want to look at that kind of stuff, but I suppose someone might. Maybe family or something. If geocities expanded their space allowances, I'd be a lot happier. I've noticed they now put a bandwidth limit on websites, meaning they can only transfer so much data an hour before being shut off. It's happened on my site, and I couldn't figure out what was even downloaded to cause it. They don't even say how much can be transfered before it's shut off, which tells me it must not be very much.

Bah. I'm not gonna ramble anymore..... today....

This summer has been nice, but fairly uneventful. I saw family in late June and early July, which was nice. I took a lot of pictures, but not a lot that will be posted here. I'll probably have lots of pictures from Graduation when that rolls around, and will put them up for the world to see.

Until next time...
