This is an attempt to move away from my Yahoo Geocities homepage that I've had for about 10 years.  I got it back when free web pages were a big deal, and the options for page creation were pretty limited.  Since I first got it, the space has increased only marginally, and the features have severely decreased. Ads have also increased, and become more annoying and visually abusive.  I've been looking for a good alternative for a long time, but everything seemed to have a catch.  Since I was looking for something simple, I was hoping I could find something free.  Everything I tried was pretty restrictive in some way or another, either in space or layout options.  Hopefully Google pages will be different.
